SCS | Beginner Course | Harrison & Nate
Well, the pace was reversed and I was found in front of the camera today whilst Nate filmed from behind it.
I had my first beginner course at our new Strength & Conditioning Studio - and I won’t lie - I quite enjoyed it.
Waking up this morning, a part of me thought I would be punished by Nate, after all the nagging for content I have been doing. But instead, he was brilliant, and so was the class.
We ran through the basics to begin with: burpees, hollow rocks, air squats & wall balls. They all felt pretty sweet!
Then we moved over to the bar where I was introduced to “Zombie Squats”. It’s one of the strangest feelings I’ve ever felt; getting choked out by a bar pressing against my throat.
From there, I did sets of both front & back squats and felt like I was getting the hang of it. I was even told I "had a nice rack" which I don't recall ever been told before. We then moved to kettlebell swings and after a few of those Nate ran me through a mini-work out to end the session.
9 hollow rocks
12 wall balls
15 kettlebell swings...
... as many rounds as I could do in 8 minutes.
I felt pretty good throughout the work out and ended up 3 KB swings short of 5 full rounds.
Overall, an awesome session and a really cool introduction to this world. Nate was a fantastic coach throughout and it was awesome to complete it all within an hour session. And as I’m sure many of you would agree with me - our new space is bloody brilliant.
I look forward to seeing what awaits me at my next session - and I am sure my time to get punished will come eventually 🤪
